Paladar Cuban Eatery & Bakery
About This Spot
Stepping into Paladar Cuban Eatery & Bakery is like discovering a quiet corner of Cuba nestled along the sun-dappled streets of St. Augustine. The air hums gently with the rich aromas of freshly brewed café cubano mingling with warm, flaky pastries just out of the oven, setting a comforting rhythm that invites you to pause and savor the moment. It’s a place where time slows, encouraging conversation and connection over thoughtfully crafted flavors.
The mood here is unpretentious and warm, with soft chatter blending seamlessly with the clink of coffee cups and the occasional rustle of a newspaper. Whether you’re settling in with a cortadito or sharing a midday meal, the pace encourages a relaxed enjoyment of every bite and sip. The bright, inviting interior mingles with well-tended patio spaces, welcoming locals and visitors alike — including their four-legged friends — to linger a little longer.
Paladar’s menu is more than a list; it’s a journey through the tastes of Cuban tradition with a fresh, mindful touch. The thick, hearty Cuban sandwiches come with the kind of balance and texture that make each mouthful feel both familiar and special, alongside delicate guava pastries that speak quietly of sweet afternoons. Coffee here is a ritual, from the sharp espresso shots to the velvety café con leche that both awaken and soothe. For those seeking lighter bites or an unexpected twist, empanadas packed with savory fillings offer a satisfying punctuated moment, while the cinnamon rolls and flaky chocolate croissants comfort with a subtle sweetness that stays with you beyond the last crumb.
The people behind Paladar create an atmosphere that feels heartfelt and genuine. They invite you to experience more than food — to find a little slice of community. It makes sense that visitors often leave with a warmth that echoes long after the last sip of coffee, carrying stories of new favorite flavors and welcoming smiles. Whether you’re breaking bread here after a day at the beach or stopping by for your morning ritual, Paladar holds space for those moments that quietly enrich your day.

drive down from jacksonville to try a new spot and was more than pleasantly surprised. between not boyfriend and i we got beef and chicken empanadas, KILLER. best empanadas i’ve had in awhile. This place makes an amazing coffee as well, we got the Bombón and café con leche and both were great. Lovely service, amazing food, and friendly staff, this place is a really amazing addition and a great place to try if you’re around.

Wonderful food, friendly and kind staff. The whole experience was outstanding. We took breakfast, croquetas, empanadas. Cafe con leche y expresso. Everything was delicious. An extra point for paints and decoration. A slice of Cuba in St. Augustine.

Stopped in for coffee and a few bites for breakfast. Ordered the caramel latte, delicious. Chorizo empanada was the best chorizo I’ve had. Ham and cheese empanada was my favorite. Ordered the toastada cubana not really knowing what it was so that was our fault. It’s just toasted bread lol

So... we were in the neighborhood and recalled seeing this on one of our YouTube favorites channels. Not too crowded for a Saturday AM. They were also happy to welcome our pups on the patio. Will have to return and try somemore!

Stop searching other cafe's reviews and just go here. Everything about this place is amazing. Best place to stop by after a day on the beach. The cinnamon roll is the best I've ever had, I now use it as my standard to compare all other cinnamon rolls. The guava & cheese pastry *chef's kiss*. You can't go wrong with any of their sandwiches. I enjoyed the coffee so much I had to get second cup.

When I go to Florida I look for authentic Cuban food. This place is amazing. I see that other people have also rated 5 stars, and with good reason. They have excellent service, the deserts are gourmet, and the food is authentic Cuban food. The portions are ideal, and made with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is almost romantic, and they have tables to eat outside. This is not a loud place; you will be able to have a nice conversation and be able to hear the other person. This is nice place to visit if you are passing by, or if you are a local wanting those gourmet desserts.
